If you’re like me, chances are, you’ve graduated from university, jumped into your first job, and have been ploughing in a corporate job for a good couple of years.
Through the years, I’ve met countless people who dreamt of living a different life – one that affords them time to do things that they love and be with the people they care for. Yet, more often than not, they catch themselves spending years living passively, going through a comfortable motion that leaves them moderately content, but also relatively unsatisfied.
I’ve always struggled with that – torn between wanting the comforts and predictability of a 9-5 job, but at the same time yearning to create something of my own.
Having worked in marketing for the past 6 years, I made the impulsive decision to quit in 2023 and was thrown headfirst into a space where I now have complete autonomy over my growth and success.
Embarrassingly, I’ve been terrible.
I spent months being depressed, anxious, and aimless. I had no routine, ate lots of junk food and ice cream, started impulsive projects that never went to fruition, and even bailed on a couple of programmes that I haphazardly signed up for.
I was so accustomed to having someone tell me what to do. When left to my own devices, I’ve become a sprawling mess.
I am still on a journey to find out what works for me. Through this journey, I hope to be able to produce relevant, relatable content for those who, like me, are stuck between a rock and a hard place.
We all want to lead a meaningful, intentional life, and that looks different for everyone.
I’m not asking you to quit your job or give up climbing the corporate ladder. Rather, it is more about intentional steps you can take to make your life incrementally better each time.
